Standard Operating Procedure: Steaming Veils

Purpose:

To establish guidelines for proper care and steaming of client veils and inventory veils. All Sposa Mia employees are responsible for following this SOP. If any issues arise during this procedure, report it to your immediate supervisor.

Procedure:

Long veils for First Looks

  1. Verify that you have the right product by looking over the Pick Up slip
  2. Use a velvet hanger and carefully fold the veil in half lengthwise until it fits within the velvet hanger. Make sure that all lace/embroidery is folded inward
  3. When steaming: steam through multiple layers of tulle not individual layers
    1. Steaming through multiple layers of tulle will properly steam the veil faster
  4. Avoid using a ribbon to hang the veil from the comb, doing this will damage the comb and may also tear the delicate tulle
  5. Avoid rubbing beading and lace with the steamer head. Dab area instead.
  6. Avoid leaving the veil draped over the client’s dress. This can result in snagging
  7. A few creases from folding is to be expected but major wrinkles should be steamed out with this technique
  8. Avoid tugging the veil on the hanger, but adjust it how the provided video indicates and make sure it’s hanging evenly
  9. Do not use plastic hangers, as these can damage the veils
  10. Leave the veil hanging separately from other merchandise on a velvet hanger. Do not leave the veil extended touching the floor. This can leave the veil exposed to being stepped on or run over with the steamer. Clip the Pick Up slip on hanger
  11. Concluding the First Look appointment carefully and neatly fold the veil into a Sposa Mia veil box with tissue paper
